How pages on Receipts are researched, written, checked and kept up to date.
What we publish
Each entry describes one way to earn money online: a platform, a career or a business model. It has two parts:
- Facts: pay, fees, payouts, eligibility, requirements, status, legal matters. Every fact has a source, a type (from the company, press and research, workers and founders, marketing claim, our estimate), a grade and an "as of" date.
- Guidance: how it works, how to start, pros and cons, red flags, tips. It's written from the entry's sources and contains no numbers that a fact doesn't back.
Sources and grades
We prefer primary sources: the platform's own documentation, pricing and terms. Then press and research, then datasets with a stated method, then community and founder reports, and last vendor or marketing content. A fact can't get a better grade than its best source allows. The full method is on How we know.
How pages stay current
Automated jobs re-read the official pages behind important facts every day or every week, check every source link each month, and look for new founder interviews each week. When nothing changed, the page shows a new "checked" date. When something changed, the page shows a new "updated" date and the change appears in the changelog.
How we use automation and AI
Software does the repetitive work: fetching pages, spotting changes, counting, and suggesting updates. A small AI model may propose a new value only together with a sentence quoted from the source, and code checks that the quote really appears there and that the numbers match. Updates are published automatically once these checks pass; every change is logged with its source in the changelog, and the editor reviews the log regularly and corrects anything wrong. The guidance text is written and reviewed by the editor; AI may help draft it, and every claim in it must be backed by a listed source.
Independence
We aren't paid to cover anyone, and no company can pay for a listing, a better grade or the removal of a fact. Some links are paid referral links; they're labelled at the link and listed on How we make money. They never affect rankings (How we rank).
Fairness
When we report problems such as lawsuits, data breaches or account bans, we attribute them, date them, link the source, call allegations allegations, and update the status when it changes. We describe facts; we don't call companies names.
Corrections
If something is wrong, we fix it and record the fix in the changelog. See our corrections policy.
